FIVE CITIES MARATHON COMES TO A TOWN NEAR YOU!

Okay, so I was reading a newspaper article about marathons.  It was talking about a SAN DIMAS based group that is puttin together a 26.2 mile run through our corner of the world.  How exciting that running enthusiasts here don't have to go all the way to downtown Los Angeles to get their running fix any longer.

The group who call themselves FIVE CITIES MARATHON have scouted out a route that leads right through the center of my real estate area!  The route, which has chosen five cities near our beautiful foothills, will go through the towns of Pomona, La Verne, Glendora, Covina and back through Claremont.

Runners who would rather do a 5K or 10K will also have alternate options for this race.  Sounds like they thought of everything! The Los Angeles Marathon boasts over 17,000 runners every year.  And although the group is a bit ambitious, they would be extremely happy with around 3,000 participants.  

At this point, the group is looking for volunteers.  You can sign up for this at the newspaper link above or the link to the group itself above.  

Registrations will be accepted until October 6 and the race itself will be run on October 8th, 2011.  The cost for the full marathon is $105 and you can register by clicking on the FIVE CITIES MARATHON website link above.  

There is also an expo at the end of the race which will be held a Cal Poly Pomona.  Vendors can go to the website for more details.
